5th Annual Josh Ratliff Award
Each year we are humbled to honor one of South Carolina's most loved fashion professionals, Josh Ratliff who passed away tragically shortly before he was scheduled to return to our annual Fashion Education Panel. Check out his accomplishments and contributions to the fashion industry and the bios of previous honorees below.
Josh Ratliff, Stylist
A native of Blythewood, South Carolina, Josh Ratliff is an experienced fashion stylist with a resume that spans the international fashion industry. At the young age of 16, Ratliff begin working as a production assistant and stylist to the producers of fashion weeks in Charleston and Atlanta, as well as the producer of Couture Fashion Week in New York City. Ratliff also interned under Annie Van Harlingen, head designer of the apparel and jewelry design label Van H. Designs, known for designing eccentric cocktail jewelry for the likes of Fern Mallis, Anne Slowey, Cynthia Bailey, Vanessa Lachey and Janie Bryant.
By the time he was 19 years old, Ratliff had moved on from styling and producing these fashion weeks to working with IMG, the producer of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. While working as a production assistant and stylist under the IMG brand, Ratliff has worked with some of the most renowned names in fashion inclusions the likes of Vera Wang, Roberto Cavalli and True Religion.
After more than 8 years of working as a stylist and runway coordinator with various fashion weeks and IMG Ratliff decided it was time to branch out and start working for himself as a stylist under his own name. Since 2009 Ratliff has worked as a fashion stylist and runway coordinator, working throughout Charleston, Miami and New York. He has also served as the Fashion Editor for the Post and Courier.
Mr. Ratliff had been a welcomed face at Columbia Fashion Week since it's inception. In 2014, he was set to be a guest on our annual Fashion Education Panel. Sadly Josh passed just before the event was to take place. We took that time to honor his works in the fashion community and his kind and loving spirit by bestowing the Josh Ratliff Award for Fashion Excellence to his mother Linda Ratliff, and two of his dearest friends, fellow fashion pros Camille Key and Elliott Carlyle. Each year, we intend to honor someone who shares that loving spirit and fashion excellence with the Josh Ratliff Award.
